A water-cooled chiller is a common type of refrigeration equipment that is usually used in air conditioning systems in industrial or commercial areas. It reduces the air temperature by circulating the cooling effect of water to achieve a cooling effect. There are several important components and principles involved in the operation of a water-cooled chiller.


Firstly, water-cooled chillers achieve cooling mainly through the principle of evaporative cooling. In the unit, there is a component called the "evaporator", which is responsible for exchanging cooling water with air and lowering the temperature of the air through the evaporation of the water. When air passes through the evaporator, the heat in the cooling water is taken away and causes the water to evaporate into water vapour, thus achieving a cooling effect. At the same time, water-cooled chillers also have a component called a "condenser" that condenses the hot gases into a liquid so that the water chiller can continue to operate.


Next, another important component in a water-cooled chiller is the compressor. The compressor is responsible for compressing the refrigerant into a high-pressure gas and feeding it into the evaporator. In the evaporator, the high-pressure gas releases heat and turns into a low-pressure gas, which ultimately achieves the cooling effect. The operation process of the compressor generates a lot of heat, so it is usually necessary to install a radiator to dissipate this heat to ensure the normal operation of the equipment.

In addition, water-cooled chillers require a water pump to circulate the water flow. The water pump is responsible for pumping the cooling water out of the storage tank and into the evaporator and condenser to complete the process of circulating the cooling. The operation of the water pump not only ensures the smooth flow of cooling water, but also helps to improve cooling efficiency and ensure that the equipment works properly.


In general, the principle of operation of water-cooled chillers mainly includes evaporative cooling, compressor compression of refrigerant, condenser condensation gas, water pump circulation cooling water and other important steps. Through the organic combination of these steps, water-cooled chillers can effectively achieve cooling effects and provide comfortable ambient temperatures for the industrial and commercial sectors.
